Green Island near Brownsea Island - Dorset

My mum and I recently went to Brownsea Island - which I will post about separately.

On the way back home we passed Green Island which has an an Eco House apparently made of timber and there are other timber houses, well both my mum and I wondered whether they were a fire risk.

Today we found out as a fire broke out this morning and some of the buildings are on fire!!!!  Why would you make your home out of timber.

Apparently, the owners are rich they owned a nearby Island called Furzey Island which they sold to B.P on the basis that they would be hidden behind the trees.

  4. Hi Justine,

    Thank you for following us.

Those islands look lovely & I've always wanted to live in a wooden house, but more of a simple log cabin than a big fancy house - if it was an eco-house & the owners sold an island to BP, it sounds like a conflict of interests to me, so they got their just desserts! Hahaha... Is that cruel of me?!

Look forward to learning about you & hearing more about your thyroid too!

    Kay :)

  5. What a shame!I would be terrified to live in an all wood house,it may be beautiful and eco friendly but not very safe.

  7. Hello Justine:
It really does seem odd that the owners should have chosen to build their house from timber but, possibly, it may have been a planning requirement in such an environmentally sensitive area. But how dreadful to have it burn down.
